INTERNAL APP for hotel Staff

For this 2 month project, I was the sole UX Design Consultant to a stylish and digitally savvy hotel chain in the Netherlands. The goal was to create an internal app that would allow hotel staff to be up to date on the status of the hotel during their shift and to complete their daily tasks all in one place. I entered the project at the beginning of the Discovery Phase and continued through the Design Phase until the designs were handed off to the client’s design team to flesh out.

Logging in & Overview

During the Discovery Phase, we learned that hotel staff don’t always work in the same location and need to be able to choose which hotel they’re working for that shift.

Once logged in, they will see a dashboard with 4 categories: Incidents, Front Office, Stop Sell and House Keeping. They will also see tabs with a detailed overview of the hotel that day, messages and their account.

For our project, we focused on designing two of the most important and frequently used journeys: Check In and Reporting an Incident.

Checking in Guests

The Check In journey can be found under Front Office. By typing in the name of a guest, hotel staff can easily retrieve the guest’s details, confirm them and create a digital room key.

reporting incidents

Reporting and viewing existing incidents can be found under Incidents. Each incident has a priority rating, description and can be supported by attached images. It was also important for us to design a way to report incidents quickly by choosing from a list of the most common incidents and record its description with a voice note in case the staff member is in a hurry.
